Welcome to our Pet of the Month feature, where we showcase pets of all shapes and sizes from our doctors, staff and friends.
Meet Karl. This cute black kitty belongs to Dr. Rick and Terry.
Karl is a rescue cat who got a rough start in life when he was a kitten. Due to an accident, one of his hind legs had to be amputated. And that wasn’t the worst of it. As a youngster, Karl was diagnosed with panleukopenia, a disease that is often fatal in cats, and a severe case of intestinal parasites. At its worst, he had such a strong fever that his ears filled with fluid and folded over like a dog’s. Luckily, through medical care and lots of love, Karl was able to recover.
Now Karl’s life is far from rough. He spends his days lounging around in the sun, or enjoying the company and conversation of family and friends. Oh yes, Karl likes to converse. He’s very talkative, often shouting down from the second floor to get attention or greeting people when he sees them. Karl loves everyone and everyone loves Karl.
Not bad for a kitten with such a difficult start. He’s come a very long way and that’s why he’s our Pet of the Month.
