Welcome to our Pet of the Month feature, where we showcase pets of all shapes and sizes from our doctors, staff and friends.

Our pet of the month feature is back and this time we’ve decided to forgo the usual cats and dogs and highlight a horse of a different color.

Meet Spot.

Spot is Emilie’s 11 year old Quarter Horse. She purchased him from an older couple who owned both his mother and his grandmother. They raised him from a baby and wanted to find a good home for him with someone who would love and spoil him as much as he demanded (which is quite a lot). Emilie proved to be just that person.

Emilie has shown Spot in Hunter Under Saddle, Western Pleasure, Trail, Showmanship, Halter, and many other disciplines. He has always been willing to try new things and will always let you know how he feels about them through his many expressive faces.

Spot and Emilie are impressive togetherĀ at shows, though he sometimes proves a little challenging to ride due to one small factor – Spot likes to be lazy. He loves food – whether it belongs to him or not – and he loves to be pampered. He will often fall asleep on his back while the farrier is trying to trim his hooves! He also loves the attention of kids and has proven to be a great babysitter when they groom or ride him.

But with hard work, exasperating days, and a great deal of patience, Spot and Emilie have become an amazing team whether they’re showing or just riding around the pasture. He really has found his perfect place. Just guard your food around him.
