Nylabone is recalling one lot of its 1.69 oz. package of Puppy Starter Kit dog chews for a possible salmonella contamination. The lot of recalled dog chews was distributed nationwide in Canada and through one online mail order facility in the United States. It is a 1.69 oz. package marked with Lot #21935, UPC 0-18214-81291-3 on the back of the package and an expiration dates of 3/22/18. Salmonella has the potential to affect any animal who ingests the product and even humans who have handled the product without thoroughly washing their hands after contact.

Symptoms of a salmonella infection in people include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. In rare cases, salmonella can cause more serious problems like arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. If you come into contact with this product and experience any of these symptoms, consult your doctor immediately.

For pets, salmonella infections may cause lethargy, as well as diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets may experience decreased appetite and abdominal pain. Pets can also remain symptom free, but still carry the infection and may pass the infection on to other animals or people. Please call us right away if your pet has eaten one of these Nylabones and is exhibiting any of these symptoms.

So far, no illnesses have been reported.

If you have one of these 1.69 oz. packages of Puppy Starter Kit from the affected lot, you can return it for a full refund. If you have any questions, you can contact Nylabone at 1-877-273-7527, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
